Ian Carr

About

By the time Ian Carr enrolled in college, he had already screened films at festivals around the country. He pursued a major in Computer Science while continuing his film work outside the classroom. He excelled at both - and by graduation Ian had not only been nominated to a research society for his academic work, but his film “Shelley” was selected to be in competition at the Cannes film festival.

As “Shelley” continued to compete at festivals around the world, Ian returned to San Francisco, starting a stint at Industrial Light + Magic. There his talents in filmmaking and programming were refined through work on films like “Mission Impossible 4: Ghost Protocol”. Ian helped pioneer workflows for “Pirates of the Caribbean 4: On Stranger Tides” - ILM’s first entirely 3D RED Camera film. ILM was a transformative time for Ian as he helped to usher in one of the largest evolutions in Hollywood - the advent of the all-digital production - while working under some of the boldest minds in cinema and special effects.

Since leaving ILM, Ian’s own work has exploded - he has helped create over 30 short films as a writer, producer or director.
